Luxury hotel stays can be costly and time consuming; but ‘Day Break Hotels’ are making it possible for guests to fit a taste of the high life into their busy schedules, by opening up top hotels for daytime bookings, so that people can relax and unwind for a few blissful hours.
If you’re looking to get cosy and warm up a chilly winter afternoon, this is the ideal activity to experience with friends or loved ones, or even on your own for some well-earnt me-time. Whether you want to take advantage of room service, relax by the pool, get pampered at the spa or fine dine in the restaurant, Day Break Hotels will help you find a hotel that suits your needs. The platform is also geared-up for the convenience of business travellers needing somewhere to rest and change between meetings or during layovers.
I recently indulged in the experience of a ‘luxury micro-stay’ at The Athenaeum Hotel in Mayfair, London. We arrived shortly after 10am and checked in at reception, where we received a warm welcome from the front of house staff, before they escorted us to our room and our bags followed shortly.
The deluxe suite boasted spectacular views of the park opposite and of city life. It was amazing being located in the heart of the bustling city of London, and yet we totally relaxed and away from it all in our 5* retreat. Other features of the room included a writing bureau, where work could be done, smart tv, coffee machine and mini bar refreshments and a very grand marble bathroom.
At lunchtime we made our way down to the restaurant, where we had an exquisite 3-course champagne lunch. Caviar bellinis, homemade parsnip crisps and lobster and crab linguini, were just a few of the delicious dishes we enjoyed.
After lunch we got changed into our matching robes and slippers and took the lift down to the spa, where spent most of the afternoon just relaxing. From the moment we entered, we instantly felt a sense of peace and tranquillity; it was the haven of the hotel where we could truly take time for ourselves and unwind. The main feature of the spa was two Japanese style, wooden hot tubs, both set at different temperatures and water pressures. To the side of the tubs was a stunning tropical rainfall shower and adjacent to that were the sauna and steam rooms. In addition, a broad selection of REN spa treatments were on offer. We also took full advantage of the fully equipped gym, which is also available for guests to use should they wish.
Before we knew it, the day had flown by and we left the hotel at around 5pm; it was time to return to reality, but oh what a dream it had been to sneak off for a while and spending the day in a fabulous 5* hotel!
