Brunch at the Award Winning Little Bat!
September 19, 2018
Little Bat is a beautiful rustic, award winning bar based in the up and coming popular location Islington, in London where they have succeeded in creating a space in which everyone would feel welcome and comfortable, and they have definitely succeeded!
The interior work has been inspired by public spaces from parks and gardens to libraries and museums. With collections of vintage and characteristic pieces; floating bookshelves, vintage mirrors and hanging baskets.
We arrived at Little Bat and the presentation of the restaurant was stunning; the decor style was spot on – rustic with a modern vintage twist, which I love! There is a great attention to detail. The furniture has great style with the touch of old antique pieces – like the type writer on the front of the bar – along with plants for a fresh finish.
Open dining facing out onto the street was perfect for the extra warm weather we have received recently and the perfect place to enjoy bottomless brunch – the menu for which looked very exciting and unique.
We were greeted most warmly by a member of staff and he served us throughout our visit, presenting us with the most appetising menu with so many tasty options to choose from, but first we started with drinks. A pot of tea always goes down a treat for me and gets me prepped, but next up, cocktails of course!
I had the Canteloupe spritz and I can tell you it was so delicious and easy to drink ! I would definitely go back for another – highly recommended. The Breakfast Club was a great drink also, it was well presented, pretty and delicate. Definitely one if you enjoy a stronger drink!
And then, for food! For starters we had a selection from the ‘Peckish’ section of the menu: We loved the Roasted cauliflower and smoked cheddar croquettes with chilli relish and the Market fish nuggets with a prawn mayo for dipping.
As you can see from the photos, the plates are beautiful present and the portion amount is perfect. There were so many beautiful flavours that complimented each other in the dishes. It was like eating passion on a plate!
For the main event we indulged in Chickpea and potato Parmesan truffle rosti with bacon, poached eggs and hollandaise.
The rich flavours melted between each. This dish was very filling – don’t be fooled by the size of it, one thing’s for sure, you certainly won’t go hungry at Little Bat.
We also tried the Fried chicken and waffles, avocado, fried egg, bbq hot sauce with pickled cucumber and the flavour and texture of the fried chicken was unreal. One of the best taking bits of chicken I have had in a long time! This dish was my favourite!
For dessert, we enjoyed Pancakes with almond butter, strawberries, orange zest and a little bit of mint. We shared this dish as we were so full from the rest of the courses. This really portrays the wonderful honest home made food Little Bat served us.
One of my favourite things about the whole experience was the graceful service and nothing was rushed. They made us feel overly welcome which was a lovely touch. The whole experience was refreshing pleasure and thoroughly enjoyable with impeccable food. One of the best brunches in London!
