September 25, 2018
The Monaco Yacht Show (MYS) takes place from 26th-29th September and promises four days of yachting luxury and upscale fun. This year is the 28th edition of the prestigious Monaco boat show. 2018 is set to be the best show ever – and the good news is that it is open to the public and residents and visitors alike can see the vast selection of superyacht debuts and luxury exhibits in and around Port Hercules.
What to Expect at the Monaco Boat Show 2018
The MYS is one of the most highly-anticipated boat shows in the world and closes the Mediterranean yachting season in style. The prestigious event doesn’t limit itself to sailing though, and visitors are treated to exhibitions from satellite sectors of luxury yachts such as accessories, fashion, prestige cars, private aviation and real estate in Port Hercules’ glamorous surroundings. Monaco provides an atmospheric setting for such a show of opulence and key players in the industry, such as yacht owners, brokers and the media descend upon the principality to see what’s new in the luxury sector.
More than 125 superyachts will be exhibited and over 40 new launches will be unveiled. Each year, a Tenders & Toys zone attracts all fun-loving yacht enthusiasts and showcases the latest innovations on Quai Antoine Ier. Next door, the luxurious Starboard Lounge exhibits destination and arts products/services related to the yachting lifestyle. In recent years, the ‘Car Deck’ on Quai Rainier III has proven to be a huge hit. The exhibition of prestige cars sits alongside the largest yachts in the show and features the marques such as Aston Martin and Bentley. Visitors and exhibitors can also access a huge indoor bar-lounge while captains and crews have their very own lounge to socialise and network in.
A Guide to Port Hercules
Port Hercules is one of the most exclusive and central areas of Monaco. It is where you can find the finest Monaco penthouses for sale with views of the port and the extravagant spectacle of yachts year-round. However, during the MYS, the number of vessels intensifies and the harbour is bursting with the most expensive yachts in the world.
A stroll around Port Hercules and La Condamine is a very special experience as these streets form part of the famous Monaco Grand Prix F1 race track. Each May spectators watch the cars whizz by from yachts moored in the harbour while residents watch from balconies of Monaco’s penthouses opposite the port. While you’re at the Monaco boat show 2018 be sure to eat in one of the excellent restaurants such as Stars‘N’Bars, a burger joint at 6 Quai Antoine 1er that serves international cuisine right on the harbour front at the heart of the action.
Next door, the modern Parisian-style brasserie Quai des Artistes offers a relaxing lunch break for art lovers. Its terrace is filled with sculptures and lush plants overlooking the marina, while the walls inside are adorned with artwork. The menu is traditional with favourites like duck with foie gras, but it has a good selection of fresh fish and an extensive wine and cocktail menu to accompany it. For the most sumptuous wining and dining experience, book a table at the Hôtel Hermitage which also overlooks the port.
As the sun sets, head to any of the lively bars lining the harbour such as the Brasserie de Monaco, Jack or Before. Participants of the MYS socialise and network at these bars making multi-million dollar deals and forging new ventures. After dark, La Rascasse is the one spot where everyone congregates and it is famous for its location inside the last corner of the Monaco Grand Prix circuit. Its concerts, nightclub and themed parties are legendary and a fitting way to celebrate the Monaco boat show 2018.
