July 23, 2019

For beachside dining, here’s a look at what to expect from new St Tropez beach clubs’ menus, compared to everyone’s favourite Club 55 St Tropez menu.

This year has seen several glamourous new beach bars open along Pampelonne Beach, and there’s one thing everyone wants to know – what food are they serving? Below, we look at how the new St Tropez beach clubs’ menus fare against everyone’s longstanding favourite, Club 55, which has set the standard high for sumptuous beachside cuisine.

The best of St Tropez beach clubs’ menus

Le Club 55 Beach Club, Boulevard Patch

One of the absolute best St Tropez beach clubs, this is where the rich and famous relax every summer, doubtless due to the club’s philosophy that the customer is not king – he’s a best friend.

On the Club 55 St Tropez menu you’ll find fresh salads, grilled steaks or steak tartare, roasted farm chicken with tarragon, grilled sardines and other fresh seasonal fish, followed by a cheese platter, chocolate cake, fresh fruits or ice-cream.

So, how do the new St Tropez beach clubs’ menus measure up against the Club 55 St Tropez menu?

Byblos Beach Club, Boulevard Patch

This beautiful beach setting has sun beds and tables set in white, with dashes of sun-kissed orange, offering a chilled-out yet sophisticated vibe.

On the Byblos Beach Club menu: salads, burrata with tomatoes or truffles, king crab with avocado, sea bass ceviche or a helping of caviar. For main courses, mixed fried fish or beef tartare, grilled catch-of-the-day or octopus, king prawns served with green zebra tomatoes and basil juice, or spare ribs of pork with Corsican honey. Finish with fresh fruit, organic ice-cream, pannacotta with berries, pavlova or a chocolate eclair.

Loulou Beach Club, Tamares

At this sister club of Loulou Paris, expect a relaxed Mediterranean setting and an uncomplicated French-Italian Riviera menu.

On the Loulou Beach Club menu: share mezze dishes with friends, and indulge in pizzas, asparagus risotto or linguine with fresh clams, and delightfully extravagant lobster creations.

La Réserve à la Plage, L’Epi

With the relaxed vibe of a cabana, La Réserve Beach Club captures its exceptional natural surroundings with chic bohemian style.

On the La Réserve menu: Fried octopus, tomato carpaccio with burrata, tempura of courgette flowers with minty ricotta, and quinoa or Greek salads. From the Crudo Bar: mango tuna tartare, salmon, tuna or sea bream ceviche, wasabi flavoured salmon carpaccio, or beef or veal tartare.

For main courses choose between squid à la provençale, grilled sardines, king prawns, sea bass, sea bream or rock lobster, and for meat-lovers, matured black pearl rib eye steak, grilled lamb skewers, or chicken with grilled vegetables.

Verde Beach, L’Epi, Pampelonne Beach

Brought to St Tropez by Yeeels, owners of Verde Paris and the Jacopo Parisian bistro, the décor is cosy but contemporary. The Mediterranean-inspired menu was created by Michelin-starred Thibault Sombardier, so of all the St Tropez beach clubs’ menus, this one promises to be special.

On the Verde Beach Menu: Tapas, sea bream carpaccio or octopus, grilled tuna tataki, wagyu carpaccio with summer truffle and Parmesan, sea bass tartare, oven roasted feta with roast vegetables, scampi, sardines or a portion of caviar.

With such delicious-looking St Tropez beach clubs’ menus, you’ll need a few weeks to do them all justice. The best way is to rent a villa in St Tropez, allowing yourself plenty of time to sample every beach club… we’ll meet you there.
