STK London, dining for the discerning diner
You will find STK globally, a brand with infinite success and we experienced exactly why.
We arrived at the London venue on the iconic Strand, following a busy few hours retail therapy, and this was a most welcome treat, actually my partners birthday treat, and we were welcomed like Royalty, but we noticed all guests were treated the same. We were welcomed warmly and taken to the bar while we waited for our table to become available, where we chose a couple of delicious cocktails, the perfect way to begin our evening while perusing the menu.
After a lot of thought, it took a while as the menu is really exciting, but eventually, we decided the Soft Shell Crab Sliders sounded interesting, as did the Compressed Water Melon Salad, so these were our choices to start with, and of course we shared. The crab was soft, fresh and light and the salad tasty and healthy, the ideal way to begin our feast, not too heavy before our steak course.
We thought it wise to ask for advice for this most important course, our waiter knew exactly how to extract the correct info from us to help us make the right decision, the choices of cuts, age, size and sauces for the steak was mind-blowing, it really is an avid meat-eaters dream come true.
I decided with the help of our new friend that the 300g fillet steak would suit me best, medium rare, with simple garlic butter and a side of parmesan truffle chips. My steak was cooked to perfection and my super sharp steak knife cut through it like butter, and the fries were simply divine, with that luxurious truffle flavour they complemented the steak perfectly. My partner had a 350g rib-eye steak with peppercorn sauce and a side of mac’n’cheese, she chose extremely well, the sauce was just spicy enough to not overpower the flavour of the steak, and the mac ‘n’ cheese was beautifully cheesy.
At this point, I need to tell you that all of the steaks are cut and prepared in-house by the resident Master Butcher and are premium brand USDA prime beef. This ensures the grain within the meat gives flavour and richness.
As it was a birthday treat, we went ‘all out’, the dessert menu was enticing and we chose the American Cheesecake with strawberry coulis and kataifi, this was just gorgeous, my partner went for the Mango Coconut Panacotta presented with a crispy pistachio biscuit. We finished our amazing evening with another cocktail and some coffee, why not this was a birthday treat after all!
The atmosphere in STK London is sophisticated, chic and lively, our fellow diners all seemed to be enjoying their meals, the dishes all looked so beautiful, presented artistically on lovely tableware. The tables were dressed with luxurious cutlery, linen and glassware and the seating was plush, decadent and comfortable.
In conclusion, STK is situated on the doorstep of London’s West End and distinguishes itself with a vibrant mix of stylish dining and lounge spaces paired with signature menus and world-class service. The decor is sumptuous, romantic and totally luxurious, the lighting flattering and coupled with this spectacular menu and great service is a genuinely perfect spot for any occasion.
I have a feeling my girlfriend may be returning very soon for the STK Ladies night, Lipstick & Champagne, it includes a glass of champagne and a three-course set menu, every Thursday from 5 pm until late, all this for just £30!
