Swimwear To Strike A Pose This Summer

June 30, 2016

To strike a luxurious pose this summer, poolside, sipping cocktails or sunbathing on the sandy beaches, it’s essential to choose the right bikini or swimsuit to flatter your body shape.

The trick is to choose swimwear to enhance a slim figure or create the illusion of a slimmer figure on a curvy or heavy body.

Swimsuits tend to flatter all body shapes and heights, whilst darker block colours are slimming.  Pastel or light colours are best avoided as they can emphasise any stomach lumps and bumps or muffin-tops.

For two-piece bikini’s, if you are a long and lean body shape then a bandeau, crop top or halter bikini top with hipster or low rise bikini bottoms will work brilliantly to enhance your slimline figure.

Let’s start with the Freya Club Tropicana underwired padded bikini bandeau top (£36) and high leg brief (£22) which ooze edgy glamour.  There are three bikini top options available – a stunning Midnight blue base colour with a flowery print, an underwired convertible banded halter bikini top and underwired high neck crop top.  For the bottoms you can choose from three designs – the Italini brief, the high waist bikini brief and hipster tie side brief.

For ultra-chic luxurious style with a sexy low-plunge neckline go for the Freya Glam Rock khaki coloured underwired padded halter swimsuit (£67), which is hot off the catwalk with a khaki base colour and flashes of subtle gold metallic stripes.  I like the subtle strappy cut-out detail and gold kiss tube detailing on the hips.  Perfect for on-trend fashionistas.(sizes UK 30-38 C-FF)

For tall curvy figures, the trick is to avoid creating added width but to enhance your height, so a dark block colour swimsuit makes your body look slimmer and longer.  If you choose a two-piece bikini there are a few rules to follow.  A halter neck will give your assets (small or large) a glamorous and supportive uplifting cleavage boost.  You should avoid wearing a non-underwired or non-padded bandeau bikini top which will do nothing for the lines of your body, will squash cleavage unflatteringly and take the ‘eye-line’ sideways – creating unwanted width to the upper body.

If you are curvy on the lower body, avoid teeny hipster briefs and instead opt for coverage with a mid-rise or high waisted bikini bottom which will have a slimming effect. With the extra fabric on the waistline, it takes the eye-line upwards.

If you are tall with a fuller figure, you can wear low to mid rise bikini briefs as your torso is longer.

The Fantasie red Calabria underwired lightly padded bikini top (£44) with the deep gathered tie-side brief (£30) is great for fuller body shapes who want to wear a two-piece bikini.

Meanwhile, the Rosa Faia ‘BeautyFull’ summer 2016 swimwear collection is perfect to flatter your assets and enhance a curvy figure.  The red print Paradise Beach bikini (£82) with tie-side bottoms (low or mid rise) gives you a flirty-glam look on the beach or poolside.

Now you too can be body confident poolside and on the beach this summer!
