The Belrose in Belsize Park, the perfect Mother’s Day eatery
March 4, 2019
Who doesn’t love a Sunday roast? But that is not not all that’s available at this newly opened, rather smart gastro pub, there is an authentic Italian twist to the menu too, but oh the roasts are heavenly.
We had a wonderful mid afternoon Sunday roast here on a cold Winter day, that followed a long a blustery dog walk on Hampstead Heath. Our little pooch was a little muddy, but I cleaned him up first before subjecting our fellow diners to his dirty paws, the right thing to do even though this is a dog friendly establishment.
We sat at a cosy round table in the corner of the pub and enjoyed our first drink, we love our wine so decided match it with our main meal, we had a soft and fruity red, delicious, it went perfectly with the most succulent perfectly cooked roast beef. The roasties were crisp and fluffy, the Yorkshire puds light and the veggie selection, which arrived ed in a separate side dish was just perfect and I really wish I could make gravy like this! Three of us had the beef and one had the Chicken Milanese with salad, this was equally as superb. The dessert menu was gorgeous too, chocolate mousse and bread and butter pudding, oh Lordy, we were indeed in Heaven. You know when you finish a meal and wish you could start all over again, well this is how we all felt.
The craft beer choice was exciting and the wine list extensive, and the staff are eager to help you make the right choice, wee took full advantage of their extensive knowledge.
The waiting staff were friendly and attentive and the atmosphere was relaxed and exactly how a Sunday afternoon should be spent, unrushed, completely spoilt and surrounded by lovely locals enjoying a wonderful few hours with family and friends.
The food was faultless, but what set this restaurant apart from the hundreds of other gastro pubs was the personal service, each and every diner was treated like a VIP.
England were playing France at Twickenham on this particular Sunday and the atmosphere was electric, especially as England played so well, and won, so we stayed a while to watch it on the pub tv. We ordered coffees and played a rather noisy game of Jinga, it was hard to leave, we were so comfortable and it seemed like’ the place to be’. Sadly it was time to leave, but we’d had a super time here, fabulous food, great service and amazing atmosphere.
I’m dropping huge hints to my family, Mother’s Day is fast approaching, pleeeaaase book a table, I want to experience the roast beef all over again!
Food is served 4pm – 10pm Monday to Friday and 12pm – 10pm Saturday and Sunday
