The Pullman Bangkok – A Haven of Innovation & Tranquility in a Crazy City!
June 30, 2018
After an 12 hour flight from the UK, a luxurious five star hotel which really delivers is most definitely what you want. Thankfully Pullman Bangkok had everything we could possibly need for our first night in the crazy Thai capital.
The grand entrance with huge orange and gold flower display was a wonderful welcome, as we were whisked up to the Executive lounge on the 24th floor. A smooth check in ensued while we sipped on a lovely tall glass of bubbles and signed the paperwork.
Our room was nothing short of fantastic on the 27th floor with beautiful views out across the city. The layout of the room flowed fluidly with a two entrance glass bathroom, equipped with blinds for ultimate privacy during your bathing experience.
With a full pillow menu, the luxurious bedding made for a wonderful nights sleep following all those hours on the plane, while the ample desk space and lounge/seating area were a great place to relax, without the need to sit in the bedroom.
While the rooms were beautifully modern, a more classic feel throughout the whole hotel had an overall calming effect with a lovely ambience and great lighting. We loved the pool with its trickling waterfall wall which when relaxing on the loungers in the sun, was the most wonderful sound.
I would thoroughly recommend you try the Tapas Vino restaurant whilst staying at the Pullman Grande – having just undergone a full refurbishment, the vibe remains rustic with exposed brick walls which set off the red tones, fixtures and fittings perfectly. With a wall mounted wine cellar, it almost had the feeling of an underground cave! The menu offered up a great choice of dishes, all reasonably priced, along with an extensive (as you’d expect), wine list.
With sharer plates at the heart of the tapas / vino experience, we feasted on tuna tartare, creamy ham croquettes with traditional gazpacho sauce from Malaga, pan seared foie gras with porcini cream and mango relish which was as luxurious as it sounds and from the main dishes, we made a great choice with the pork tenderloin, juicy and flavourful with a strong hit of manchego cheese gratin and a sweet apple compote. Every one of the dishes was executed perfectly.
A morning session in the sunny, fully equipped air-conditioned gym with floor-to-ceiling glass windows was the perfect wake up call before we hit the Mistral Restaurant for an amazing breakfast. From waffles to the juice and smoothie station, every type of food was available – Indian, Japanese, Thai and Western with an abundance of different options to satisfy every craving.
The Scarlett Bar & Restaurant on the rooftop boasts French cuisine and unrivalled views across the Chaopraya River, while 25 Degrees Burger, Wine & Liquor Bar is Bangkok’s only 24 hour burger restaurant – an American style bar with a whole range of craft beers on offer. And Cocktails lovers will be impressed by the Playground Bubbles and Mixology Bar which is a perfect drinking spot!
Pullman Bangkok offers such a varied experience that you really have everything you need under one roof! On Monday’s nights, the hotel is buzzing as big name DJ’s entertain the masses in the SX Club. But what’s most impressive is its innovative design and attention to detail amidst all the chaos of the surrounding Sukhumvit area.
Our top tip – definitely go with the Executive Lounge access which comes with brilliant benefits when staying in one of their deluxe rooms. You’ll get to enjoy breakfast 6am-11am, afternoon tea 2pm-6pm, social hour 6pm-8pm with crab crostinis, lemon seabass, fresh salmon, champagne, wine, beer and and complimentary tea and coffee and soft drinks all day.
