The Santiburi Samui – a Luxurious Thai Escape

July 10, 2018

Located on the North Coast of Koh Samui away from the hustle and bustle, Santiburi is one of ‘The Leading Hotels of the World’ with an authenticity which is captured by the surroundings in which it is found.  Staying here is a unique experience with a captivating exploration of culture, a personalised service and plenty of attention to detail.

After checking in and having the luxury of seeing the beach as we were led to our quaint villa, we literally dropped our bags and headed straight in the direction we had come.  The beach experience is a delight and one to savour, with a beach butler who will prep your lounger so it’s more comfortable than your bed at home, along with cold towels and glasses of even colder iced water.

The beach itself is sunning.  Aptly named The Long Beach, the stretch of golden sands reaches as far as the eye can see, set against crystal clear waters.  There’s also complimentary kayaking on offer, wind surfing and sailing when the waters are calm.

With glorious, traditional retreats nestled amongst tall, lush, palm trees, around every corner of the resort, you will find yourself discovering pretty waterfalls and picturesque bridges – not forgetting the main pool area which is literally the size of a lake!

The villa rooms by the beach are traditional in their design and extremely spacious with all the mod-cons you could ask for.  There’s ample room for two guests in the traditional villas which come with a big sitting room, oversized bath tub, and even a jacuzzi in the secluded garden.  The front patio with table and chairs is the perfect place to enjoy a night cap on a warm night whilst being surrounded by beautiful flowers and greenery.

If you can prize yourself away from your luxurious lounger on the beach, you’ll notice the communal areas of the Santiburi are also stunning.  Reception most definitely has the wow factor and the staff are wonderful – attending to your every need.  There’s also a gift shop on site, five restaurants including The Lounge and Sala Tahi, The Beach House is the perfect place to cool off in the evening, offering everything from seafood to steaks and pasta, with the sound of the waves in the background.  Make sure you take advantage of the free coffee and cakes every afternoon at 4pm – it’s delicious and will keep you going well until dinner time if you’ve been actively making use of all the Santiburi’s facilities.  These include, golf, gym, table tennis and mountain bikes, boat and yacht charters, trampolining and even Thai boxing.  There’s also a kid’s club to keep the little ones entertained and a spa on site offering a traditional Thai massage along with many other treatments.

With properties ranging from the Grand Deluxe Garden Villa with plunge pool, to the Beaufort Villas and Grand Deluxe Villas with private pools, we were also given a sneak preview of the brand new luxurious villas , which have since opened for bookings.  They are ultra modern and minimal in their design – sleek and contemporary with clean lines and plenty of beach club white furnishings, adding further to their accolade as one of the ‘Leading Hotels of the World.
