Turkish Delight: Why the Aegean is emerging as the A-list destination for September sun
Offering heavenly hotels, stunning beaches, delectable cuisine, a fantastic exchange rate, along with year-round sunshine, here’s how you can get your own taste of the luxe life.
Cornelia Diamond Golf Resort & Spa – the Jewel of Antalya
Cornelia Diamond Golf Resort & Spa is the ultimate Antalya destination. A luxury take on the all- inclusive, it offers clean lines, modern aesthetics and eye-watering facilities.
Set on its own 27-hole award-winning golf course designed by Sir Nick Faldo, the resort also has an amphitheatre, twelve outdoor swimming pools, a beautiful beach and an abundance of waterslides and water sports; guests are literally surrounded by 50 shades of blue.
Located in Belek, about 30 minutes from the Antalya airport, first impressions are spectacular; the resort boasts stunning views of the sea and a cool, chic décor. It’s easy to see why they were named one of Trip Advisor’s Best Hotels.
Our spacious room was a family suite – two rooms interconnected, ideal when travelling with little ones – and was connected to the pool, via a ladder on an outside deck. And the massive 2 1/2 acre pool that surrounds the hotel is utterly divine. It meanders around the giant property and is scattered with well positioned Jacuzzis along the way.
And in addition to the hotel’s stunning stretch of white sanded beach (replete with loungers and bar service) there is an incredible kids’ club in a building shaped like a pirates’ ship along with a very charming children’s carousel and choo choo train. Indeed, children seem to have been thought of at every moment here in the hotel. Even the large, glass enclosed dining room has an area designed for little people; a place for parents and children where all the tables and chairs are at child-friendly heights.
For those seeking relaxation – they will love the indoor pool and spa which is a sanctuary of calm and enjoyment. The indoor pool is generous and warm, and the enormous spa offers 12 inviting aromatherapy saunas and steam rooms.
The resort is all inclusive and the food outstanding. The sheer quality and variety is breath-taking; one morning I counted 20 kinds of cheese and 16 variations of olives ( all delivered to the hotel from different parts of Turkey), amongst the enormous and enticing breakfast selection.
Open all year round, leisure lovers will be in heaven as, in addition to golf, there are 7 pools, 10 tennis courts and 3 FIFA standard football pitches. Foodies are sure to enjoy sampling each of the 9 restaurants, 7 of which are a la cartes – and all with an incredibly high standard of dining. There is 24 hour room service and the property is all inclusive (including alcohol) so guests can just sit back and enjoy one of Turkey’s most beautiful hotels.
