Why Flying on Private Jets is Becoming More Popular
November 14, 2018
There was once a time when taking a flight in an aircraft was a luxury reserved for the wealthy elites, however, this is now something people from many walks of life can enjoy.
If we fast forward to the present day, we can now see the same thing happening with private jets as more and more of us are opting for private providers.
Here we take a look at why this might be the case.
A Wider Choice of Options
The first thing to note is that there’s a lot of competition now with many private airlines fighting it out for clients. The simple matter of supply and demand here could well be a reason why the costs aren’t as high as they used to be, as such airlines look to fill their jets.
‘Empty Leg’ Flights
On top of the wider choice available to today’s passengers, there are many providers who also offer what’s known as ‘empty leg’ flights. VistaJet is just one example of an airline that has them, and they are essentially the return leg of someone else’s one-way flight.
The catch is that these are only available at set times from specific locations. However, booking-savvy flyers can often find them at discounted prices as airlines again look to avoid passenger-less flights.
More Booking Alternatives
Following on from empty leg flights, private airlines are now increasingly offering other booking alternatives that have helped make things more accessible for some – particularly businesses. For instance, you can now find subscription services that can see flyers have as many trips as they want on private jets, all for a monthly payment.
Speaking of businesses, there’s now an expectation in certain industry circles that client or business travel is only the finest – as this reflects well on that company. As such more and more firms are turning to private flights.
As well as this though, flying privately can also be more practical for some businesses as by having the flexibility to book and fly as and when they choose can save time and streamline their travel – the luxury surroundings are of course an added bonus.
Finally, there’s currently a trend amongst the younger generations to spend more on their travels in a quest to make their holidays more ‘Instagrammable’. In other words, they are prepared to pay for more luxury, which for some may involve private flights.
So, much like how commercial airlines are now available to the masses, it will be interesting to see if and how quickly the private jet industry goes the same way. Only time will tell of course, but this situation also begs the question of whether a new form of luxury travel will then take its place, the results remain to be seen.
