The London Cabaret Club is a true feast for the senses.  Hidden below the busy streets of Holborn in Central London lies a fantastical ballroom and an extravaganza of luxurious entertainment which you just have to try!

Having lived in London for nearly 10 years, I’m always on the lookout for new experiences which highlight just how amazing this great city is, but I’ve never seen anything in all my time here which is quite like ‘A Gatsby Christmas’.

You’ll be led through the unassuming doors at The London Cabaret Club on Bloomsbury Square by the bearcat flappers and transported downstairs to a glittery, snowy, winter wonderland – complete with twinkly lights and Christmas trees.

Pre-show drinks take place in the main bar area with a brilliant live singer – so brilliant in fact that I didn’t even realise it was live until I saw the actual singer belting out the songs!  With three packages on offer (Silver £55, Gold £125 and Diamond £195pp), we’d decided to go all out with the Diamond package and were taken to our specially reserved area where we were welcomed with champagne and canapés.  A great start to what was to be a fantastic night!

As the bar filled up and the crowds arrived, buckets of champagne were served to a a well-heeled crowd – all wearing suitably fitting flapper outfits!  And as we finished our drinks, we were summoned to the main dining room, where VIP tiered seating awaited with a great view of the stage.

And so the magic began…

Without giving too much away, the next three hours went by in a flash!  The stage came alive and we were treated to all kinds of performances from magic to acrobats, contortionists, singers, dancers, gangsters and molls.  The level of showmanship was excellent and every single move was choreographed to perfection, all the while, staying true to the raucous jazz age of the roaring 20’s.

We were served delicious food throughout, including the irresistibly creamy celeriac and parsnip soup starter with parmesan and marsala; the rich and ever so more-ish chicken liver parfait with piccalilli and marsala reduction on crostino; and an amazing main course – mouth watering goose breast with potato fondant, kale, cranberry and port sauce.  After a little bit of  a breather, we also enjoyed warm apple strudel with chantilly cream which was beautiful! (The Diamond package also includes half a bottle of wine per person and a mid-dinner cocktail.)

And after such a brilliant evening, we were pleased to discover that the end of the show did not mean the end of the night!  As the DJ started up, the floor filled up and there was a brilliant atmosphere as everyone pulled out their best moves – no doubt inspired by what they’d just seen!  There’s also the option to continue your night next door in the bar area with reserved seating.
