Best Shoe Trends from New York Fashion Week Spring 2019

The new spring collections for 2019 are starting to shape trends that will be the highlight of next year. The New York Fashion Week Spring 2019 was the perfect avenue for designers and top brands to show their latest collections. There were some interesting fashion lines and exquisite pieces displayed throughout the event.

The shoe trends, however, are the most interesting. 2019 will be a fascinating year for shoe lovers around the world, especially with brands like Stella McCartney and Givenchy releasing their collections early. Here are the best shoe trends to follow based on what we’ve seen during the New York Fashion Week and other events.

Floral isn’t a traditional spring accent this year, especially for shoes. However, the 2019 collections from different brands feature floral accents that are not only beautiful, but also interesting in different ways. The choice of materials is equally interesting.

The pair that caught our eyes was the suede and leather appliqué floral boots from Manolo Blahnik. The pair was made for the show of Carolina Herrera, but it caught a lot of eyes. The combination of white suede and leather flowers is too good to miss.

Striking Patterns

2019 is the year to go bold with your fashion choices, and you have a lot of shoes to match those choices you will make. As we get closer to the end of 2018, more and more designers are introducing pairs with bold patterns and colors.

During the Michael Kors spring 2019 show, we saw a gorgeous zebra-print heeled boot that combined green, white, and black in a delicate pattern. The combination works really well with the floral, and equally colorful, pants by Michael Kors. Expect to see bolder colors in spring.

Complex Lines

The design of the shoes and sandals is also getting more unique. Top designers are using complex lines and silhouettes to really accentuate the feet. Tasseled sandals and shoes are also making a huge comeback, and the one we love so much is the pair by Oscar de la Renta.

The black and white piece pairs really well with the dress by Oscar. Even when paired with a more formal evening gown, the stacked-heel pair emits that casual fresh aura and allows you to achieve that chic look without sacrificing comfort or elegance.

Back to the Sea

Aside from bold colors and striking patterns, there is also a sea theme growing among designers. Expect to see a lot of sea creatures, shells, and patterns such as fishnets and scales in the spring 2019 collections of many designers.

Spring isn’t a season that gets associated with the sea very often, but that doesn’t make the pairs from Pyer Moss and Altuzarra any less interesting. Combined with simpler pants or dresses, the sea patterns and colors work really well for both day and evening occasions.

More Feathers

There are a lot of out-of-the-box ideas and trends shaping up this season and the use of feathers for shoes is one of them. While we have feathered shoes in the past, seeing so many on the runways is indeed interesting.

Simon Rocha, for example, has a beautiful pair with black feathers and simple lines creating a beautiful ensemble. This isn’t the pair you want to wear to just any occasion; it is a pair designed for the most special evening party.

Valentino has a more interesting take on using feather when designing shoes. The pink feather on Valentino’s sandals is not only beautiful, but also meant to add a nice touch to your ankle.

Metallic Boots

Seeing metallic returning to the runways was not as surprising when you consider the other trends shaping up for the season. The one that caught our attention was the footwear from Rodarte, which boldly combine metallic colors with striking, often sharp lines.

Ankle boots in metallic do work. You can pair them with anything from a simple dress that matches an equally striking metallic top or dress for a more stunning look. You can even pick up crystal studded boots from brands such as Giuseppe Zanotti.

Comfort and Sustainable

The spring 2019 trends are not all about evening parties and formal shoes; there are a lot of interesting casual, comfortable pieces to choose from too. Comfort will be a big thing next year – even more so than today – as more fashion lovers shift towards casual and comfortable looks.

Stella McCartney’s Sequin Elyse Star Derbies are perfect for such semi-formal and casual occasions. These shoes are starting to hit top retailers like SSENSE too, so you know you can shop for spring footwear early and get yourself ready for the season. SSENSE have a huge collection of both men’s and women’s designer clothing, so make sure to stop by.

There are more trends to come as we close this year and start a new one. These shoe trends for spring of 2019 are certainly among the most interesting trends to follow. Expect to see more high-end shoes utilizing bold designs and striking ornaments.
