DSTRKT Bar & Restaurant – A Luxurious Pan-Asian Offering in London

DSTRKT Restaurant & Bar is a hidden gem in the middle of Piccadilly Circus.  Part of the ever-popular super-club DSTRKT, this brand new swanky pan-Asian restaurant lives up to its reputation as an exclusive dinner destination in the heart of the city.

Because the club doesn’t open until late, DSTRKT Restaurant & Bar is a great place to venture mid-evening.  You get to benefit from the ultra modern and cool design of a restaurant housed in a multi-million pound club, but with a much calmer atmosphere than you’d find post midnight when the place stirs into life with big name dj’s and paid-for private tables.  This all lies on the other side of the thick black curtain which cloaks the club like a private chamber…

It’s definitely the kind of place you’ll want to dress up for too – come 10pm as the clubbers start to trickle in for a pre-dance feast, you’ll be glad you gave your new Fendi the run out.  The layout of the restaurant is also pretty special.  With a mezzanine balcony area and more tables below, DSTRKT Bar & Restaurant basks in ethereal purple and pink lighting against the backdrop of a stunning giant installation.  Definitely one to help rack up the Instagram followers, no question!

Sashimi Moriawase

The menu is quite simply, delicious.  With two piece (£6-£15) and three piece selections (£6-£18) of nigiri and sashimi (including eel, seabass, tuna and cured mackerel) along with six piece maki sushi rolls (choose from salmon avocado, prawn tempura and japanese croquette to name but a few), we’d definitely recommend you go for the platter selections.  The cured mackerel was absolutely sensational both as nigiri and as part of the impressive sahimi moriawase offering.  Perfectly smoked fish, not too oily or dry and a really mild flavour which you don’t always get with mackerel!

Probably my most memorable part of dinner was trying the Kizami Wasab (£4).  If you’ve never had real wasabi before, then you must come to dine here for that alone!  Incredibly more-ish, it makes sushi taste just incredible.  Normally in restaurants, wasabi is made with  horseradish – you just won’t believe the difference.

From the small dishes selection, we loved the Duck Spring Rolls (£12) which were freshly made, stuffed with delicious duck, while the rich Hoi Sin sauce complimented the meat and the crispiness of the rolls perfectly. Pan Roasted Atlantic Scallops (£14) were big and succulent, still warm and served with a lemongrass salsa, garlic chives and crispy seaweed. The garlic and lemongrass worked particularly well together.

From the Specialities we chose the luxurious Miso Black Cod (£35), wrapped up in a hoba leaf and served with picked vegetables.  So soft and buttery, it was a truly amazing dish.  And from the Robata, we went on our wonderful waiter Stefano’s recommendation – the Dry Aged Beef Sirloin (£28) which had been rested for 48 hours and was served perfectly medium rare with smoked seasalt and truffle oil.

Too full to hit the club, we compromised with a couple of sake nightcaps (ask your waiter for the sake – it’s not on the menu) the perfect end to a really amazing dinner.

If you’re after a faultless meal, high end pan-Asian cuisine, and fantastic service in aesthetically, one of the most stylish restaurants in London, DSTRKT Bar & Restaurant is your place.
