Ladera Resort St. Lucia – Possibly the Most Romantic Retreat Ever?
July 23, 2018
The Ladera Resort in St. Lucia might just be the most romantic place Luxuria Lifestyle have ever stayed… It’s a stunning paradise which is the only resort in the whole of St. Lucia that has been built on a UNESCO heritage site.
With uninterrupted panoramic views of the majestic Pitons and out across the Caribbean Sea, the suites at the Ladera Resort are quite literally something else. In traditional rain forest style, each room is open air meaning there are only three walls! As a result the private pool and sun lounge area benefits from the most incredible backdrop ever and there’s something very special about dropping off to sleep in your four poster bed to the sound of wildlife and waking up to that absolutely unbelievable view!
With terracotta floors, columns made from tropical greenheart wood and cut Soufrière stone, you can see each one of the suites has been hand crafted with enormous attention to detail, and while the rooms do have that authentic feel about them, you’re still equipped with all the mod cons you could ever ask for – an abundance of Molton Brown products, a fridge which is filled every day with refreshments (including bottle of ice cold Veuve Clicquot on arrival), and a wonderfully personal turn down service which includes gorgeous gift-wrapped presents left by the bed each evening from chocolate profiteroles to ginger cookies. You’ll also receive a picture postcard on the side table with a romantic or moving poem written on the back.
As well as heated plunge pool, eating area and dressing area, the shower is possibly the biggest shower we’ve ever seen! Taking up an entire room, it has four jets on the ceiling and with the open plan nature of the villa, it means that while you’re showering, you’ve also got access to that view of the mighty, magnificent pitons.
In-room breakfast should you wish to enjoy it by your own plunge pool, is available at no extra charge, while you’re also given your own personal mobile phone on arrival with butler service. Call them any time you want the buggy to pick you up and take you on the short journey to reception. Which brings us on to the staff and the service. Knowing everyone by name, you’ll leave as friends of the Ladera team – always a smile or a wave when you’re passing, they will tend to your every whim.
Food in the Dasheene restaurant is plentiful and varied. Beware – the portion sizes are huge! With a farm to table lunch menu including delights like the piton burger served with blue cheese and bacon, to lighter bites like the fish goujons, there’s bound to be something you’ll enjoy. In the evening, there’s a wider selection of dining options – from pastas to steak and beautifully fresh fish. We loved everything we tried, while the whole experience was enhanced by those views out across the mountains.
As if you’re not relaxed enough during your stay at the Ladera, the on-site spa offers up an excellent range of treatments. We indulged in the chocolate body scrub which involves a cocoa bean paste being massaged in all over the body before it’s washed off and a moisturiser is applied with a light body massage. The spa also offers a fabulous post-pitons climb massage. If you’re brave enough to try and strong enough to make it to the top, then you’ll be desperately in need of this one to soothe your aching limbs.
There’s really no need to leave your room – especially with the added option of the Dasheene in room dining experience, but should you fancy a change of scenery, there’s a main pool area, and a small but fully equipped gym if you’re getting restless!
Staying at the Ladera was an absolute dream – for honeymooners, there could be no better place to while away the stress of the wedding build-up and spend quality time with your loved one.
