Luxury Bedding for Toddlers
June 28, 2017
It won’t be too long now until I move my little boy from his cot into his big boy bed. (I still can’t quite believe how quick the last two years have gone.) So, before removing the sides from his cot, I decided that it would be a good idea to actually get him used to having a proper duvet and pillow. I wanted to make sure that I made the transition from his sleeping bags to some proper bedding fun, but also that he was comfortable and most importantly, that the duvet didn’t keep falling off. So here is my guide to the most luxurious toddler bedding on the market.
Grobag – Toddler Bedding
I’ve always been a big fan of The Gro Company, so for me this was an easy choice when picking some cot bed bedding. The Gro to Bed range is an all–in–one duvet cover, bottom sheet and pillowcase set that has been cleverly designed to keep the duvet in place and help to prevent little children from rolling out of bed. A unique zip-in system keeps the duvet secure on the bed with the toddler safe underneath it. It makes it impossible to kick the duvet off and makes it almost as hard to fall out.
The pillow is fixed in place and the whole thing secured to the bed with a clever elastic holder. It’s absolute genius and is ideal for toddlers making the transition from cot to bed or Grobag to bedding – which Zachary was doing. The duvet set come in various different designs. I chose the ‘Going to the Zoo’ set (£39.99) which I knew my little boy would love. During the hot weather I have just been zipping the duvet on one side to the bottom sheet, which has been perfect and meant that he can kick the duvet off or pull it back on himself and it doesn’t get lost down the end of the bed. The fact that the pillowcase is also fixed means it doesn’t move around and he stays comfortable all night long.
Frugi – Cosy Cot Bed Set
For those mums who have never heard of the Frugi brand it’s time to get on board and for those who already have – this is an easy sell. Frugi is a fantastic ethical company producing a range of gorgeous 100% organic cotton clothing for newborn babies and right up to children of 10 years, as well as having an award winning range of breastfeeding tops and dresses for mums.
Frugi aims to improve the lives of everybody on Planet Frugi…from enhancing the lives of the people who grow their cotton to giving the people who wear their clothes the best quality possible. Frugi’s clothes are designed to make everyone smile. It’s a fantastic brand and the quality it just amazing. So again, when deciding which bedding to opt for, it was an easy choice.
The Frugi bedding is made from super soft, chemical free organic cotton! The Cosy Cot Bed Set (£54.00) contains a reversible printed duvet cover, one reversible pillow cover, a striped fitted sheet and lush coloured button fastenings. It is wonderfully designed and is all beautifully presented in an organic cotton drawstring bag in a matching print. I really like the stripy bottom sheet, it’s fun and extremely comfortable for Zachary. He was delighted with the tractor print that I had chosen and each morning points out the bright yellow suns, trees and chickens which cover the duvet.
Tuck n’ Snug – A New Concept in Toddler Bedding
The Tuck n’ Snug is a wriggle proof bedding set for children, that stays on the bed throughout the night and helps kids (and their parents) get a good night’s sleep. The bedding differs from other pillow and duvet covers in that it has fabric flaps attached. These flaps are simply tucked under the mattress, keeping everything in place. There are no additional fastenings to worry about and children are still able to get in and out of bed unassisted.
Tuck n’ Snug (£49.95) has been developed by mother of two, Annabel Anderson who, like many parents of young children had become fed up of being woken several times each night by little ones who had kicked off their covers in their sleep.
When I first went to put it on the bed I was a little confused but as soon as I worked out what I should be doing I realised what a genius idea it was. Zachery it still able to move freely and he loves the ‘Animal Antics’ design. The bed linen is made in Britain and the range is 200 thread count cotton percale, making it feel super soft and cosy. It washes well as it is easy care linen – meaning that you don’t even need to iron and it will still look good.
