Port Ferdinand, Barbados – Luxury Villas in a Boater’s Paradise!

February 23, 2016

It’s where the footballers all holiday and where Simon Cowell partied on New Year’s Eve.  Welcome to the stunning luxurious hideaway of Port Ferdinand in Barbados.

Located on Six Men’s Bay at St. Peter on the beautiful North West coast, Port Ferdinand stands out like a diamond in the rough of rural Barbados, with its nearest main town, Speightstown, a short drive away.  Every single one of the 82 residencies here offer stunning views across the marina and Barbados riviera, while each new home comes with its own berth which can comfortably accommodate yachts of up to 60 ft.  If you’re in the market for investment, you can either buy your own spacious open plan villa, or rent one for the week and live in the lap of luxury whilst enjoying all of your home comforts in a palatial setting.  Yes, villas (which are all 2500 sq ft or more), might set you back somewhere in the region of £4 million, but for exclusivity on a Caribbean island, this is the place and you do most definitely get what you pay for.

All residencies are fitted to the very highest standards – the kitchens are equipped with everything you can think of including coffee machines, dishwashers, quartz or granite worktops and a separate laundry room, while the living space is just, well, huge.  Sprawling sofas dotted with lavish cushions, fancy artwork on the walls and a balcony big enough to fit a 10 seater dining table. Overlooking the marina, the over-sized terrace would make the ultimate setting for a dinner party.  Full of natural light, bedrooms are spacious too, again with stunning views out across the marina.  Luxurious bed linen comes as standard and there’s also a walk in closet and en-suite bathroom for every bedroom, stocked with every Molton Brown product you can think of.

Port Ferdinand is operated by UNNA Luxury Resorts & Residencies whose vision was to create ‘luxury with soul’.  That most certainly accounts for the meticulous attention to detail in every villa then – the coral stone walls, marble and limestone flooring and the highest quality furnishings you can buy.  You can even choose from two designs – ‘artfully contemporary’ or ‘bold classic’.

There’s more.  The vibrant development doesn’t just boast celebrity standard homes on its 16 acre inland waterway site.  There’s plenty more helping it live up to the website claims that Port Ferdinand is ‘one of the finest addresses in the Caribbean…’  There’s a beautiful outdoor ‘Pool Island’ for sunbathing and swimming in the centre of the marina, along with a brilliant little pizzeria and cocktail bar (they do a fantastic rum punch).  In addition, you’ll find a 24 hour fitness centre, an indoor state-of-the-art golf simulator and world class ‘Sandbox Tree Spa’ offering holistic and ayurvedic methods.

Then there’s the on site fine dining restaurant 13° 59° which is becoming increasingly popular with both ex-pats and locals.   Located on the marina side of Port Ferdinand, with its spectacular views, 13° 59° offers up delicious dishes from English Executive Head Chef Andy Turner and Executive Sous Chef Roz Allen from Northern Ireland.  Their aim is to make the very most of the fresh locally sourced produced in Barbados to create stunning dishes which excite the palate.  With limestone floors, plenty of polished wood and neutral colours, it’s an elegant informal setting, but the menu really is exceptional.  Choose from the three or seven course tasting menu with or without wine pairings – the St. Thomas suckling pig with pickled star fruit and buttermilk potatoes is one of the best dishes I have ever tasted.

A true boater’s paradise, the marina allows direct access from Six Men’s Bay through the channel.  Designed and engineered to the very highest of standards, it offers advanced boating facilities, is 120 berth and has a dock master on hand, as well as a yacht management service from UNNA.

With absolutely beautiful homes designed with comfort in mind and a marina which would impress the most experienced of sailors, Port Ferdinand truly is a luxurious place to call home.  To find out more click here.  Nightly rates for rental are around £664 (US$950.00) for a 1 bedroom harbourside home for up to two people, US$1,500 for a two bedroom and US$2.250 for a three bedroom.
