Celebrate a Luxurious Thanksgiving Day in Style!
November 25, 2015
The fourth Thursday of every November is a reason for Americans to give Thanks, while for us Brits, it’s basically another excuse to eat a huge dinner ahead of our Christmas feast (think of it as a practice run to see how much you can safely consume come December 25th!)
Luxuria Lifestyle has come up with some of the more quirky options for you try in London:
Stay Home, Eat Turkey, Drink Chandon Cocktails
Too chilly to head out? Prepare your own massive turkey at home and wash it down with some Chandon based cocktails (£14.99 per 75cl). Our favourite is the pumpkin coloured Chandon Gaucho so you can toast before you eat. Place one white sugar cube in a chilled champagne glass, add 5mls Fernet Branca and top with deliciously fizzy Chandon. Garnish with orange zest. Using Argentinian grapes, Chandon uses the exact methods used by French champagne makers to produce their stunning sparkling wine.
Chow Down at 108 Brasserie, Marylebone
Enjoy a special Thanksgiving menu on the 26th for just £35 per person including New England clam chowder, a traditional turkey feast and home-made pumpkin pie made from Exec Chef Russell Ford’s best of British ingredients. The American Spice Thanksgiving cocktail will also be available. (Two courses are available for £26.50)
Try a truly American Restaurant – Avenue, St. James
What could be better than celebrating the most important day in the US calendar, than with a Thanksgiving platter from an American inspired restaurant?
Made for two to enjoy, get stuck in to American classics which come with an Avenue twist courtesy of new Head Chef James Hulme. You’ll get to enjoy delicious charred corn with red pepper and harissa, chill and buttermilk glazed short ribs and mini mac and cheese.
Hoedown at Beaver Lodge!
It might be a celebration but it’s also the perfect time to party! Work off that turkey with An All American Thanksgiving Hoedown at Beaver Lodge. Styled on a mountain cabin in Wyoming, get past the grizzlies and the moose heads and make your way for the dance floor. Re-hydrate with cowboy-state inspired cocktails made with Ketel One Vodka – you can’t go wrong with the Buddy Beaver signature serve though – a delicious mix of vodka, prosecco, strawberry puree, lemon juice and raspberry. From 10pm Thursday 26th November.
Celebrate the holiday at Hunter 486, The Arch, Marylebone
If you can’t quite make it out on Thursday 26th, then you can still book in at Hunter 486 over the weekend, giving you plenty time to help celebrate the US National Holiday. At only £25 per person for this delicious menu, you can indulged in spiced butternut squash soup, followed by succulent Norfolk Bronze Turkey cooked in the stone oven with prosciutto, roast sweet potatoes, maple glaze root vegetables and cranberry sauce, with a warm pecan tart complimented by whisky ice cream to finish.
Comfort Food at Pont St, Belgravia
An all day dining destination in the heart of Belgravia, with food prepared by the UK’s youngest Executive Chef -Sophie Michell, Pont St within the Belgraves Hotel is the perfect place to enjoy an American style breakfast on Thanksgiving Day, or with a specially created Thanksgiving menu. With fresh twists on the traditional celebratory classics, the £55 menu per person includes Bourbon chicken liver pate with sour dough croutes and red onion marmalade or Winter salad of beets, followed by Kelly Bronze turkey breast carved to order with chestnut stuffing and cranberry sauce. Sweet potatoes come topped with caramelised marshmallow (we need these now please!) Brussel sprouts are glazed with maple syrup and bacon, along with all the traditional trimmings, while dessert includes the pumpkin pie with ginger spice ice cream.
Get your grill on at Q Grill, Camden
A special Thanksgiving menu awaits at Q Grill – Des McDonald’s pan-American barbecue restaurant which will be celebrating with a traditional Turkey-with-all-the-trimmings affair at just £35 per head. With Executive Chef Lee Bull at the helm, stateside faves will include seasonal treats and Q Grill classics, not to mention truffled mac & cheese and chocolate, and pumpkin and pecan tart.
