The Royal Crescent Hotel & Spa Bath

Located in one of the most famous crescents in the world, The Royal Crescent Hotel and Spa offers an unforgettable stay in the historic city of Bath. Their guiding mantra is “to exceed every expectation” and they most certainly delivered. From pulling up outside of the world-famous Royal Crescent, one of the greatest examples of Georgian architecture in the UK, to the bedtime turn-down service every detail was exquisite.

Upon arrival, while taking in the beauty of the building we were met by a member of the concierge team who took our bags and parked our car. Once we entered through the elegant Georgian doors, we were given a warm greeting and a tour of the ample amenities and luxurious reception rooms of the hotel. We were then taken up to The John Wood Room to begin our relaxing stay, named after John Wood the younger who completed the building that his father began in 1767. The stunning decor was a combination of modern and traditional charm with luxury soft furnishings and a deluxe four-poster bed. Our suite also hosted a private sitting room with comfortable sofas and chairs and a TV. We were welcomed with a platter of fresh fruit and a box of locally made chocolates which instantly made us feel completely at home. The room was impeccably clean and the attention to detail was second to none.

After settling in, we enjoyed a walk around the tranquil gardens and had a coffee al fresco. We then headed into town, just a short five-minute walk away to explore the historic surroundings. For those who are fans of the show, the Bridgerton tour is an absolute must! The city itself has so much to offer with something for the whole family to enjoy, whatever the weather.

We then treated ourselves to some time in the spa and vitality pool with massage jets, before heading back to our room to get ready for dinner. The room had everything we needed from luxury toiletries and robes to the hairdryer and ironing board so we didn’t have to worry about a thing.

Before dinner, we stopped at the stylish Montagu Bar and Champagne Lounge for a drink. The drinks menu had something for everyone and the cocktails were delicious. The perfect way to work up an appetite! In the Dower House restaurant, award-winning Executive Head Chef Martin Blake and his team delivered an unforgettable culinary experience. The 6-course tasting menu allows diners the chance to try an array of foods prepared in ways they have never imagined. We also enjoyed the roast Cornish cod and the dressed cheddar strawberries with clotted cream from the main menu and finished every bite! The locally-sourced ingredients and “farm to fork” menu along with the beautiful view over the gardens is a winning combination. We also enjoyed wine with our meal, recommended to us by the knowledgeable Sommelier.

After dinner, we headed back to our room where our bed had been turned down by the courteous staff, and a sleep spray to spritz on our pillows had been left to help us drift into a peaceful slumber. The luxurious bedding and marshmallow pillows made for an excellent sleep, with a gorgeous view of the crescent to wake up to the next morning. The Dower Restaurant was the setting for our delicious breakfast in the morning where both continental and cooked breakfasts were on offer. The self-service continental provided a wide selection of pastries, cereals, yogurts, fruit and so much more. The cooked breakfast was outstanding, the perfect start to the day.

After breakfast, I headed to the spa for a much-needed full-body massage with hot stones. The award-winning spa and hot baths are set in tranquil surroundings and offer a host of spoiling treatments and amenities. From the 12-meter heated relaxation pool to the Taittinger Spa Garden you won’t want to leave! Guests are spoiled for choice when it comes to treatments, with highly trained therapists using holistic high-end products, designed to ensure you leave feeling brand new.

After our incredible stay, I spent the journey home feeling very relaxed and rejuvenated. I cannot recommend The Royal Crescent Hotel and Spa enough. The staff were warm, welcoming and attentive and the hotel itself is breathtaking. An absolute must stay 5-star experience,
