Excellente! Aubaine Launches Delicious New Menu!

When you’re already overly impressed by the bacon butter which comes out with the bread in a restaurant, its probably a good indicator that there’s good things to come!

We’re sure you’ve heard of Aubaine – the cool French restaurants which inhabit each worthy postcode in our fabulous city, but now they’re going that little bit cooler.  Instead of classic French, the feel is new, innovative, chic and most definitely worth a visit – although you will still recognise a few of their most popular choices.

Luxuria Lifestyle were invited down to the stunning Aubaine Marylebone on Moxon Street, where Executive Chef Anthony Ekizian has been trying the freshest of French cuisine all over France, tirelessly searching out inspiration for his new dishes!  (Yes, it sounds like the toughest of jobs!)

Accompanied by distinguished wine sommelier and Sales Manager of Liberty Wines James White (who provide Aubaine with their fabulous wine list) we were treated to an eight course tasting menu no less, to showcase the stunning culinary expertise of chef and his startling new dishes.

The feel now, is very French bistro (of course with the boulangerie and patisserie still at its heart) – perfect for an evening out with your nearest and dearest, partner, family or friends, for wining and dining.

There were many stand out dishes as our tastebuds were treated to a journey through France, starting with that aforementioned delicious Smoked Alsace Bacon Butter which smothered on warm, fresh, baked bread, was just heavenly!  (This butter doesn’t actually appear on the menu, but if you ask nicely, they’ll bring you a nice big helping!)

My favourite starter was the Burrata – a really generous lump of fine fresh cheese, with a deliciously soft curdy, creamy centre!  Served with Heritage tomatoes, pink grapefruit for some zing and a smattering of sweetness from the honey and lavender oil, we ate this with a glass of beautifully coloured subtle red fruit rosé – a 2016 Château d’Esclans Whispering Angel from Provence.

Superfood Salad

For the health conscious, the Superfood Salad stood out as a tasty, filling, nutritious choice.  Packed full of vitamins and protein, I normally avoid salad in restaurants, but this is definitely one I’d have again.  Courgette, aubergine, broccoli, bean sprouts and alfalfa, were pepped up with pomegranate and given some texture with quinoa and mixed seeds for a really tasty bowl of goodness!

From the mains, the seared Sea Bass was an absolute delight.  Accompanied by a sweet carrot purée, with tender stem broccoli, the confit lemon worked perfectly with the fish, and a sundried tomato dressing made for an overall taste sensation!  A big glass of Portugese Alvarinho Morgadioda Torre (Vinho Verde) went down really well with this dish – a great balance of acidity and flavour with pineapple, peach and lemon on the palate.

And finally, the dish I’ll definitely be going back for – the Provençale Lamb Duo – my mouth is watering just thinking of it now!  A medium to rare olive-crusted lamb cutlet was served alongside a garlic braised lamb breast and sautéed Niçoise vegetables.  The different textures and tastes all on one plate were just beautiful, enhanced further by a gorgeous French Beaujolais – a 2015 Fleurie from the Dominque Morel vineyards.  With soft violet notes and delicious red fruits, this wine choice from James was my favourite.

A truly stunning new menu for Aubaine in an elegant, refined, stylish setting will have you going back time and time again.  Lucky for us that there’s so many in London you can experience the delicious taste of France in a different restaurant every night of the week!
