London Sock Company – Christmas gift boxes make the perfect present
As fashion moves forward and away from the traditional garments of jackets, ties and pocket squares, how do men show personality in their outfits? For London Sock Company, it’s all about the socks.
London Sock Company was founded in 2013 by two friends, Ryan Palmer and Dave Pickard. “We wanted to create something that would be a stylish sartorial statement for the modern gent,” says Palmer, co-founder of London Sock Company. “When Dave and I first left our jobs in the City we had no experience in fashion, other than what we had observed around us. We recognised a real gap in the market to provide a great quality sock brand for the professional male. We researched and tested our ideas as much as we could, then finally when all the signs said yes, we just had to give it a go.”
One of London Sock Company’s first investors and a longtime ambassador is British model David Gandy. The relationship started through a mutual friend. “We met Joe Ottaway, then head of men’s personal shopping at Selfridges, who has since become a good friend of ours and an invaluable collaborator… We showed him some samples from our Simply Sartorial collection, which was all we had at that point, and he absolutely loved them. He suggested a couple of people he could introduce us to – one of those being David Gandy,” explains Pickard.
The brand is known for its bright colours and bold patterns, which are both evident in its latest collaboration with British supercar designers McLaren Automotive. The collection features eight sleek designs that include a contemporary reinterpretation of the famous McLaren Orange, a colour synonymous with this iconic brand, as well as the speed mark icon that immediately identifies the company’s pioneering designs.
“This McLaren Automotive collaboration celebrates a shared belief in the power of details, from the socks that you wear to the leather trim in your car. An individual expression can transform not just your style but also your state of mind,” says Palmer. The capsule collection can be purchased in a luxury gift box, for the automotive aficionado in your life, or as individual styles.
London Sock Company’s flagship collection Simply Sartorial elevates the everyday item with its bright colours inspired by iconic London sights or drawing from Scottish symbols (both co-founders Palmer and Pickard are from Scotland). There is also a new cashmere range, crafted with famed Scottish garment-makers Johnston of Elgin, perfect for the luxury lover at Christmas.
You can discover the full collection by London Sock Company online, at Fortnum & Masons or at a pop-up Christmas shop in Harrods during December.
