Tiara Yaktsa – a Balcony Overlooking the Sea

Located at Théoule-sur-Mer, near Cannes, the Yaktsa hotel dominates the coastline with its breathtaking 180° view over the Mediterranean.

The marine landscape conjures up a painting by Cézanne: the green of the pine forests, the deep blue of the sea, the red rocks of the Estérel, and the intensity of light, making everything seem irresistible whatever the season.

Built in the 1920s, this five storey travellers’ hotel is set in the midst of a terraced garden, embellished with small courtyards to enjoy lunch in the shade of the pine and cypress trees, and with balconies with stunning views and vast rounded terraces overlooking a splendid infinity pool, Hollywood style, heated all year round.

Just a few kilometres from the Croisette, and you are light years away from the hustle and bustle of city life. This is a confidential, romantic and refined address, for lovers of nature or quite simply for lovers.

The Yaktsa offers an original blend of Art Déco architecture and a Provençal style. The spirit of the 1920s is evident in the design of the terraces, the purity of the lines, and the large French windows opening out onto the sea. The Mediterranean touch is felt in the ochre-coloured walls, the “Genoise” style assembled tiles festooning the edges of the facades, the small walls, so-called “terraces” giving the garden its maze-like appearance, and the coolness of the floors with their large “terracotta” slabs.

For the decorator Pilar Paiva de Sousa, this blend was a genuine challenge: what should she choose, Art Déco or a Provençal style? After much consideration, she decided to decorate the hotel as the home of a rich landowner, a discerning collector who brought back objects, fabrics, and carpets from countries dear to his heart.

This is why our guests have the exquisite feeling that they are at home, welcomed around a table and not standing in front of a reception desk, guests can enjoy the pleasure of enjoying lunch while savouring the aroma of mimosas, stretching out under the veiled shade of gazebos, inviting friends to the terrace on a summer evening, or hiring the hotel for an unforgettable party.

While the 13 rooms and 8 suites in the Yaktsa are similar, each one offers its own special features. When we asked the interior decorator, Pilar Paiva de Sousa, which was her favourite room, she replied “the smallest because of the challenge it presented and its cosy character”.

The boxes inlaid with Syrian-inspired mother-of-pearl, the finely chiselled copper lamps, the patiently tracked down decorative wooden panels, are all from Marrakech. The impressive front door, “moucharabieh” style, and the furniture, cabinets and sofas were all made in Portugal, Pilar’s country of origin.

Eastern style carpets can be found spread throughout the hotel. Lights conjuring up the technique of henna patterns come from Venice, while the embroidered net curtains of the windows and canopy beds, exquisitely romantic, are Italian. The fabric of the velvet and silk cushions, with their delicate beige, coral, mauve or purple hues, hail are from the best fashion houses of the world: Fadini Borghi, Elitis, De la Cuona. The walls are decorated with magnificent silver necklaces from China, traditionally presumed to guarantee fullness and wealth.

All this is in perfect harmony with the latest technologies (LCD screen, CD/DVD player, free wifi access, private safe, mini bar, and telephone) found in the rooms.

All rooms have a balcony or terrace overlooking the sea and gardens. The 150 m2 penthouse suite on the top floor boasts two terraces and two Jacuzzis.

Chef Guillaume Anor, , has a special affection for flavours of the south.

Appointed Head Chef at the Tiara Yaktsa and the Tiara Miramar Beach Hotel & Spa, today Guillaume Anor ensures his guests benefit from his experience, renewing his menu every season according to his preferences and the fresh products he selects in the markets of Cannes and Mandelieu.

While at the Miramar Beach Hotel & Spa, Anor expresses his southern temperament through Provençal-style dishes, conjuring up his childhood memories. At the “Or Bleu” restaurant, Anor focuses on more traditional cuisine with a modern twist.

Elected by Tripadvisor as one of the most romantic hotels in Europe, the Yaktsa is specially designed for lovers: day-beds by the pool away from prying eyes, cocktails served by the jacuzzi, breakfast on a private balcony, a discrete table for two under the shade of a parasol, a relaxing massage during a lazy afternoon.

The hotel is also ideally suited to host weddings for up to fifty guests, with the possibility of hiring the entire hotel.

With the Yaktsa’s “boutique hotel” concept everything is possible.

The Penthouse Suite can be converted into an office room for a “summit meeting” with buffets on both terraces, access to the pool and 10 parking places available.

The “L’Or bleu” restaurant can accommodate up to 60 guests for a gala dinner, and the entire hotel can be hired out for a seminar.

You will love checking-in on the terraces facing the Mediterranean Sea with a glass of champagne in your hand, or during a welcome cocktail by the pool or in the gardens, just like in the Roaring Twenties.

As Nice Airport is a mere 45 minutes by car and Cannes Railway Station only 30 minutes away, our hotel is ideally located both for private individuals seeking an original venue for an event and for companies looking for a discrete address a prestigious 5-star setting.
